What is the project

Ding is an AI-driven platform that deploys a fleet of specialized agents to automate up to 80% of repetitive restaurant work, transforming restaurants into data-driven businesses through operational intelligence.

  • Ding is a startup venture co-founded to revitalize the hospitality industry's profit margins through AI automation.
  • We deploy a fleet of specialized AI agents—including Waiter, Marketing, and Concierge agents—that agentically manage front-of-house operations and customer interactions.
  • The system collects comprehensive user and operational data, then performs advanced data analysis in the back-of-house to synthesize customer interactions into actionable operational intelligence.
  • The platform helps restaurant owners achieve their business goals by automating repetitive workflows while gathering insights that drive strategic decision-making.
  • In four months with $0 paid marketing, we secured 4 paying customers and built a $10M+ interest pipeline through organic outreach and personal networks.

What I learned

  • Agentic Framework Design: Developing event-driven notifications and role-based agent behaviors.
  • Full-Stack Development: Engineering with Next.js (Frontend) and Python FastAPI (Backend).
  • Cloud Infrastructure & Security: Implementing Supabase for database management, JWT for authentication, and Row-Level Security (RLS) for data privacy.
  • AI Service Integration: Working with OpenAI (GPT-4) for core logic, Vapi for Voice AI, and Resend for automated email communication.
  • Technical Product Management: Balancing a budget for AI API costs (GPT-4o vs. 4o-mini) against performance requirements.
  • System Architecture: Designing multi-unit management views and multi-unit role-based access control (RBAC).
